Here I will list the best places to learn Houdini for Free. After the tier list, I will talk about a few "Honorable Mentions".

  1. SideFX The SideFX Website has a lot of tutorials a lot of paid once but very many free ones. The Free Houdini Tutorials on the Houdini Youtube channel alone are worth this placing.

  2. Junichiro Horikawa Junichiro live streams very often creating very cool abstract effects in Houdini, He has a series in which he explains different Math principles and how to use them in Houdini He does a lot of vex. His stuff is for free so don't hesitate and watch it! His Content can be intimidating at first but when you understand everything he's talking about it will help you a lot.

  3. Bubble Pins Bubble pins makes many very useful tutorials and explains everything well. A lot of Topics are covered, basically all the main simulation tools in Houdini and more.

  4. Entagma While not very good for absolute beginners Entagma has many different Motion Graphic Abstract oriented tutorials, but a lot of the techniques you learn can be used in bigger more realistic kinds of projects as well. They use a lot of coding which is why their channel can be intimidating at first.

  5. Arise Works If you want to know anything about Mantra he probably has a tutorial about it. He focuses a lot on vops one of the most powerful tools in Houdini he has a lot of stuff about mantra too and hopefully he will do a lot about Karma as well. Even though Mantra is getting replaced by Karma doing his tutorials will still help as a lot of settings do similar things.

Now we get to the Honorable mentions part!

Steven Knipping's free tutorial Series Particles, Rigids, and Volumes I are the best free beginner courses on their particular topic. Steven's style of teaching is very fun he explains everything very well and has a great sense of humor which is what makes his video so fun.

The only reason he isn't higher up on the list is that most of his tutorials are paid, but they are worth every dollar you spend on them.

Nine Between.

He has a lot of Videos where he goes over his setups from the Mardini series. He has the best Beginner tutorial out there: Houdini sint scary and made a very good follow-up series: Vex isn't Scary. You should check out his channel. The reason why I decided to place him in this category is that he doesn't have that many tutorials and sadly he didn't upload in a while! I hope to hear from him soon.

Rohan Dalvi

Rohan has a lot of great tutorials and paid courses he does sort of stylized effects and covers modeling and Fx and a lot about rendering

Lastly, I want to make a small list of channels I didn't watch a lot of but I think they deserve a Mention: Doxia Studio, David, Kahl VFX Adrien Lambert.
